College Football Rewind: Week 1

Just a CRAZY weekend of College Football with OT thrillers and upsets all over the place. Probably one of the best opening weekends in College Football in a longggg time. I don’t even know where to start. So lets get fired up!

#9 Tennessee: 20     Appalachian State: 13

What a way to kick off  the weekend! Tennessee walks into this game with all the the hype and for them to put up a performance like this is SCARY if you are a Vols fan. Just a sloppy game all around, even the OT winner…

#8 Stanford: 26     Kansas State: 13

To no surprise it was the Christian McCaffrey show and he just showed everyone why he should have been the Heisman.

#15 Houston: 33     #3 Oklahoma: 23

The first big upset of the weekend, Houston showed up! Greg Ward Jr. put on a show, Bake Mayfield died, and we even got a Iron Bowl kick-six flashback.

Texas A&M: 31     #16 UCLA: 24

I would say I am surprised by this upset but Texas A&M has been pulling off Week 1 upsets every year. I can’t believe I am saying this, but if A&M gets their act together on offense then they can be a real contender in the SEC this year because their defense played AMAZING! Myles Garrett might be the best player in the country and looks like might have a shot at being the #1st overall pick in this years draft. Josh Rosen really struggled in this game and in my opinion exposed him of not being the elite quarterback we thought he was.

 Wisconsin: 16     #5 LSU: 14

HUGE upset in Lambeau Field as the Badgers take down the hyped up LSU team headlined by Heisman hopeful Leonard Fournette. Everyone thought that LSU would be contenders in the SEC, but guess what, LSU has Quarterback problems! Surprise surprise!

Texas: 50    #10 Notre Dame: 47

Probably the best game of the weekend. Prime time, Sunday night. This game had it all. It was back and fourth, plenty of scoring, and the Over Time was awesome. The game was all about the Quarterbacks. Both teams played two Quarterbacks in this game. Notre Dame had to figure out who was their guy under center and legit rotated both DeShone Kizer and Malik Zaire. But it was Kizer who ended up making more plays and ended up being the guy for the 2nd half. Texas rolled out true freshmen Shane Buechele who lit it up early in the game, but it was Tyrone Swoopes ’18 Wheeler’ who stole the show with the OT magic. Charlie Strong keeps his job (for now).

#4 Florida State: 45     #11 Ole Miss: 34

Nothing like a little Monday Night Football. This game is going to be 100% more entertaining than that joke of a game next Monday with the Rams vs 49ers. Anyways this game was interesting to say the least, in the beginning it was all hotty toddy and it looked like the game was over. Then FSU scored a touchdown before the half and then the whole 3rd quarter was all FSU. They put up 30 unanswered points which was crazy! Chad Kelly was getting abused by that FSU front 7 and threw a couple bad INTs because of it. On the other side, quarterback, redshirt freshman, Deondre Francois looked like a totally different player fro beginning to end. He developed more in that one game than and LSU quarterback has in their whole career.
