It Is A Great Time To Be A Celtics Fan

What a 3 day span. Your Boston Celtics in the last 3 days have defeated the Wizards in an epic Game 7. They have locked up the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft. And tonight, they HOST the defending champions Cleveland Cavs in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Holy shit. Pinch me I must be dreaming.

5 years ago, the Celtics blew up their franchise by trading away Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett.

A move that was not loved by everyone…

The Celtics took a risk and did something that a lot of franchises would not do. They took advantage of a team who was moving into a new stadium and wanted to go all in and take a shot at the title. Danny Ainge went into collecting asset mode. They traded away everyone, and they people they got in return they then went and traded them. They wanted to collect any asset that they could. Young player and draft picks. And then everything changed when they traded for Isaiah Thomas.

Ever since then, the Celtics have gotten better and better. They made the Playoffs that first year and got swept by the Cavs. The next season they once again improved and won 2 playoff games. Then this season, we signed the biggest Free Agent in Celtics history, Al Horford, and teamed him up with Isaiah who had his best season ever. Now here we are, in the Conference Finals and with the number 1 pick.

I know a lot of luck and good fortune led to this, but I think Danny Ainge deserves a round of applause. He is not being able to rebuild at the top of the draft while at the same time contend for a championship. It is amazing what he has been able to accomplish in a city that has had a very hard time getting top Free Agents to come to.

So here we are, on the doorstep of Bron Bron and knocking on the door. Sure, I know we are the underdog and everyone and their mother is counting us out. But this is where we wanted to be. The Celtics are only going up from here. With Max cap space heading into this summer (cough couch Gordon Hayward) AND the 1st overall pick, you have to be excited on where this team is going next season and into the future. So enjoy it Celtic’s fans. Soak it up. We are in the NBA’s Final Four and we don’t plan on not making it for the upcoming future. GAME 1 LET’S GOOOO!!!!
