Julian Edelman And Stephon Gilmore Ejected From Patriots Practice For Fighting

SOURCE–    If you fight, you leave. Those are the rules of New England Patriots training camp practices, and wide receiver Julian Edelman and cornerback Stephon Gilmore found out the hard way.

Edelman took exception to being held by Gilmore on a target from Jacoby Brissett and got in his face. Gilmore shoved Edelman, and the wideout threw his new teammate to the ground. The two players had to be separated after ripping off each others’ helmets. No punches were thrown, but both players were kicked off the field by coaches, as is standard protocol for fighting at Patriots practices.

It seems the humid weather and a rise in temperature following a day off from camp also raised tempers. Tight end Dwayne Allen and defensive end Caleb Kidder also got into a scrap during pass rush drills.

The Patriots had their 5th Training Camp Practice today and things got HEATED. Julien Edelman got into a pushing contest with the Patriots newest Cornerback Stephon Gilmore. I don’t know about you, but I LOVE that this happened. I am not surprised a little bit that Edelman got into a scuff, that is the kind of guy he is. But I am very happy to see the highest paid CB on the team and big splash Free Agent Gilmore give it right back to Edelman.

The Patriots need competitors. They need guys who are going to play with a chip on their shoulder. That is what they have always looked for and what they value. This shows me that their might be a little chip and competitive edge in Gilmore, who was a former 10th overall pick and now one of the highest paid Corners in the league. So while its not great that there was a fight between teammates, I am encouraged by the altercation. I think my good friend Lawyer had a great view on the situation.
